Most GTM AI decisions involve two people: the revenue leader who wants the time back, and the technology leader who has to trust it. Good decisions answer both.
Buy when
- The workflow is common and well served, such as call notes or email verification.
- Speed matters more than differentiation.
- The vendor lets you keep your data and leave without a rebuild.
Build when
- The workflow is specific to how you sell, such as your scoring logic or routing rules.
- You need control over data residency, models or evaluation.
- You want the asset to compound inside your own stack.
Partner when
- You want to build, but do not have the GTM engineering capacity yet.
- You need it working in weeks and want it handed over, documented, afterwards.
- You want an outside view of which workflows are worth automating at all.
Questions to ask any vendor or partner
- Where does our data go, and is it used to train anything?
- How is quality measured, and can we see the evaluation results?
- What happens to the workflows and data if we stop working together?
- Which model provider and region does it run on, and can we change it?
If the answers are vague, the risk lands on your team later. If they are clear, you can move fast with confidence.
